Nursing Assistant

The first 4 months will focus on the TAUGHT modules which will each last 1 week. These sessions will be delivered via live lectures by an experienced faculty.

Our platform for teaching will be ZOOM and our technical support team will be available to address any concerns.

The End of MODULES Examination will take place in the final week of the TAUGHT section.
Examinations will be timed online with multiple-choice and case-based questions. But may be available in person for those who are unable to participate online. All online examinations will be proctored.

Students will then be assigned to various tertiary/assisted living facilities in their location where they will rotate through the specialties (Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry, Accident & Emergency, Physical Therapy).

Each rotation will last 4 weeks.

Each student will be required to complete a Procedure Sheet which includes procedures that are essential for functioning in their role as Nursing Assistants.

There will be a 2-week break between each rotation to facilitate a review of clinical experience so as to identify gaps in knowledge and address them.

The final 2 months of the programme will be designated to:

  • End of Clinical Rotation Break (2 weeks)
  • Consolidation (Review of Clinical Experience) 2 weeks
  • Basic Life Support Practicum
  • Study Break 2 weeks
  • Final Exams

Format:

  • TAUGHT Modules (16 weeks)
  • Clinical Rotations (6 weeks)
  • Elective (8 weeks)

Assessment:

  • End of TAUGHT Modules Examination
  • Clinical Rotation Assessments (At the end of each rotation)
  • FINAL Exam (Online MCQs/Oral Examination)
  • Clinical Rotation Assessments will be based on Supervisor Assessments as per REVAMP Assessment Form MCQ’s will be case based, best of 5 answers (2 papers, 50 questions each – 2.5 hours) plus oral examination – Online 15 minutes

To secure your place in this course applicants will typically possess a minimum of 3 CXC or equivalent subjects, including English and a Science subject, however, each applicant will be assessed on an individual basis.
